Consultation for Safe Newcastle's Community Safety Strategy
Barefoot Research and Evaluation is currently supporting Safe
Newcastle's three year community safety strategy by consulting local communities
and frontline agencies and feeding this back into service delivery. This allows
for constant service development and improvement through regular feedback from
residents and frontline staff. Which in turn means improving community safety
projects and reducing crime and disorder.
For this work we interview residents,
communities of interest (e.g. asylum seekers and refugees), direct project
beneficiaries and project workers and feed the results back to project
coordinators. These then subsequently redeploy resources, change their approach
or spread the good practice.
Projects that we have assisted in such a way
include:
-
Re-deployable CCTV
-
Student safety initiatives
-
Multi-agency approaches to anti-social
behaviour
-
Drugs and alcohol initiatives
-
Projects to tackle youth disorder and
anti-social behaviour
-
Asylum Seeker and Refugee support projects
-
Arts development to tackle anti-social
behaviour
-
Mini moto projects
-
Media and communications
-
Safe Neighbourhoods and Problem Solving
initiatives
-
Community engagement methods
-
Community safety initiatives on public
transport
-
Community cohesion projects
The research and evaluation is constantly
improving project and strategy and strengthening Safe Newcastle's strategy.
